Whats more shocking than the stud price is lurcher lads still reading that rag

Take it easy on me lads but here's my view , I've a whippet that has more than proved himself in the field , a lad I know who has a bitch which has not really proved herself wanted to give me £200 to

The hole problem with the so called lurchet game is the dogs are worthless ...we've just picked up a 3 year Wheaton/grey x deer/grey. It jumps.has stunning obiedence..takes deer single handed..day tim

Picked a c.m.w for first time in 3 months today.

It hasn't changed.

1 ad selling Rossett hunters, like there heroes of the field for over inflated prices,

don't get me wrong I have and would pay more for a dog than £500 if its patents had shown heart and style in the field and it suited the work i had lined up for it but it seems these have been breed to pick there legs up like a hackney pony and hold its head up proud more than running ability.

1 ad making out a strain of rough coated lurchers are something there not,

some kind of mythical poachers dog of old that have had to be "hidden inside the family dwelling" and boasting it can be called of its quarry ?! ( jacking, or not having its heart in the job ). TUMBLER!

Same paper, same dinlows, buyer beware!

Just a quick question folks...have any of you ever heard of a top class bitch which has had the call so to speak? Meaning an owner of a dog having to pay the owner of the bitch a fee to use her?

seen it wher it was the case that men have put there case foreward to use there animals on said bitch, wanting in payment a welp. atb bunnys.

Yes i know of a man who paid a reputed 5k to loan a bitch for a litter.

are you talking about snowy who was loaned to put to captain and they all turned out shite

the stud dog is owned by a big show man . never known him to work his dogs .

Then for me it wouldn't be worth using the dog as a stud.....a few of my mates have said a half cross mali/grey are an ugly dog and if I'm honest I don't care what they look like as long as they do what I ask in the field..... they may be ugly but i know off a one that took the lot night time ,intruders also .this was bred grey over the mali bitch . its pretty much the same as most f1s bas bred none are what one would call cat walk types i says ugly as isas ugly does agood animal grows on ya and becomes seen in a totally different light . atb bunnys.

I'm not saying that a,working lurcher should be thousands of pounds..but you'll pay £500 for a gsd pup that's no use for anything....my Mali bitch will be having a litter in the summer and the pups will be sold for the price of rearing them BUT they will only be going to lads, that will work and give an honest appraisal of there ability... and that to me says it allhonesty those that would be the first to see the weeknesses of there animals and not be blinkered . atb bunnys.

and a few yre a back i would have paid five hundred for a certain bull xs to cover my late old bitch , with out a second thought as it was it came right awelp covered it how it should be and have reaped the rewards . certain stud animals of there given type that are producer that are bred to lets say mediocre or average bitches with pedigree in common will stack the odds in ysa favour of good ratio of decent ta good welps with maybe the odd special one . there be a very good reason whyb a top stud should comand a price of substance . the breeding of generations of top stock the knowledge all that goes in to producing something special time of decades work gone in ta the line etc for maybe the once in a life time animal that can produce . these type of studs can save all the time effort that is needed to get only moderate stock . some go for yrs and yrs and neva get what can be got by deling deep in ta the pocket . will this animal being put up ta stud prove he can be a producer . well it would be wise to see if there as been any test mating first before parting with thy cash atb bunnys.

if you want a good lurcher it is best to start from scratch.ist cross collie x greyhound labradorx greyhound german shepherd to a greyhound etc paying 500 pounds is no guarenetee of sucess.also the make up of the 500 pound dog needs to be taken into consideration plus the make up of the dam .walking around a show ring means nothing to me poseing is as poseing does .if i couldnt breed my own and have to pay 500 pound for a lead poser then i would give up .once the gods make a good dog the mould is broken and thrown away .ie ballyregan bob scurlouge champ.in over 43 years of breeding dogs i only had one thaht was exceptional on hares most of the rest had brains stamina and good working ability but not real top speed.people pay out thousands to top class greyhound studs and still end up with below averge dogs.i personally would not pay 500 pence to use a lurcher stud.any one who does needs thier head looking at .i can assure any one on this forum thaht a geniune ist cross .ie collie greyhound labrador xgreyhound german shepherd x greyhound for hedge bashing lamping gun dog work net work ferrets canott be matched .you need stamina brains hardiness and general allround working ability.take the lamp away from most lurchers to lurchers and you would starve to death.if a lurcher canott work the long net work with ferrets push game out of thick cover work with the gun and the lamp it is just a long dog not a proper lurcher
