£500 Stud Fee

Recommended Posts

It's nowhere near as common as the dog commanding the fee though is it bunnys? ...you could bet your bottom dollar that a lot of the bitches are superior to the dogs that are commanding these ludicrous stud fees?...the good owld dog game eh? ATB Andy

i offered to take in a retired bitch and keep her till she died if i could take a litter out of her ... not paying a fee but it would of probably cost me more

Whats more shocking than the stud price is lurcher lads still reading that rag

Take it easy on me lads but here's my view , I've a whippet that has more than proved himself in the field , a lad I know who has a bitch which has not really proved herself wanted to give me £200 to

The hole problem with the so called lurchet game is the dogs are worthless ...we've just picked up a 3 year Wheaton/grey x deer/grey. It jumps.has stunning obiedence..takes deer single handed..day tim

How much is it for a well breed pup?????Hancock charges £200 and that is out none working dogs.So to pay £500 for service to go over your bitch is nothing really. If you bitch as 6 pups or more and all the mates looking pup each works out the service will only cost you about £83 each for good pup

It jumps.has stunning obiedence..takes deer single handed..day time hare..lamps like a pro retreves live to hand (we will be only lamping rabbits and a companion dog) it cost £200 and £60 in fuel to fetch it.....its a joke....the sooner the prices go up the better...it will get rid of all the giro junkies buying.running the guts out and dumping dogs in the pound..an equivalent ppd would be 6k so these dogs are well looked after and respected...

£6k? Then it kills itself lamping? Behave mate. What working dog lad could afford that?

I agree we shouldn't be giving dogs away. But a bit of common sense comes into it.

I'm picking up a new dog at the weekend for next to nothing. He's a good dog and the bloke hasn't got the work for him but didnt want to Rehome him to just anyone so has kept hold of him. When he found out I was ok the look out he asked me if I was interested in the dog and didnt want anything for him, couple of bags of food. I'm giving him enough for a good drink. But it's not about money. It's about working dog lads enjoying working dogs.

I wouldn't stud my dog for free to someone I don't know because I don't agree with muppets breeding shit dogs. To mates or known lads free. But to people who approach and ask, £150, £200 maybe. The money would go straight back into my dogs, not my pocket and would hopefully keep messers away from breeding a litter, out of my dog anyway.

Atb. Gaz.

Its all relative i suppose,If you breed a good litter of coursing dogs or racing greys you will make your money back +,I certanly would pay big money for stud of a rabbiting dog.Just be glad you aint into the horses, but then again if you got a good mare and took it to Frankel what would its foal be worth as a yearling.

FRANKEL
2008 b.c Galileo - Kind
16.1hh (1.65m) to stud 2013
2013 Fee: £125,000 SLF

Max I'm not saying a running dog should be 6k but what I'm saying is the dogs should have some value for the work that goes into them....these dogs are highly bred and designed to do a hard and dangerous job....my bitch will be having a litter in the summer anf the pups will be offered to a select few lads on hear for what it costs me to rear them..but ill be dammed if they will be going to lads that can't put the work infront of the dogs or the skills to train them....

some of these posts show what you think the value of your dog is how much would you sell a 3 - 4 year old 100% grafting dog for i would`nt sell it -- they see there time out with me but f i had to it would`nt leave my yard for less than 800 notes --- buy it as a pup 200 quid spend 18 months getting it ready have 2 full seasons good solid graft out of it -- if its a dog the stud fees 150 if its a bitch the pups are worth 150-200 --------?? i dont think so i`d like to see the well bred pups and stud dogs getting the fees they really deserve like wise with terriers --will it happen no--- to many people would be in it for all the wrong reasons trying to make a few quid ...my mate had a litter of russell pups for sale last year from proper grafting stuff 300 a pup he could of sold 50 ... look beyond the price tag ...

Anyone actuly seen this £500 stud dog work, 4 pages of replys and as far as iam aware not a mention of its working ability. Two camps here me thinks, 1 which iam in which thinks no dog [and imo that means top show dogs as well as workers] is worth £500 stud fee, £500 doesnt mean its going to throw top class workers or show dogs, some shite dogs have been known for throwing goods workers too, i honestly believe that the price of dogs, workers or otherwise, going up and up is the reason why there are so many dog thefts, and another camp which believes high prices are justified and help keep the messer's at bay, you have a point about messer's thats for sure, but it was a better world when working dogs could be aforded by working class folk, £500 is behond my means, atb, buster.
