But they jump all over saving him....... ..... Oh yeah cause they'll sale more papers.....Gazza isn't a charity..... It's bullshit and there asking people to dip there hands in their pocket whilst advertising the paper... Just donate to AA if your chosen charity is alcoholism..... Like gnasher said being mad to feel guilty about who to give your money to is wrong.... Headlines lik " Gazza would've been dead in 48hrs" or whatever is pulling at you.... He's an individual not a charity, as friends, former employees ( fa) get him sorted (if you can ).... But he is not a charity.... I wish him well, as I do anyone else struggling... You can't say "what ifs", the situation is that he now is a broke down pathetic wreck, when this man was a hero to us growing up! It matters to people because he made a difference and for all his wrong doings a lot of people still aren't ready to turn their back on a national hero at his lowest point in life.

cragman 2,791
Gazza's doomed, like Besty was and many before him. Just because he's in the public eye doesn't make him any more special. He is, only to the people that love and truly care for him...His family! My sister was the same, love nor money could not help or save her. I used to shout at her about the trouble she was in with her drinking, her immediate family, her husband and children, were more controlled, they had seen much worse but kept it to themselves, to protect our ageing parents. The strength to recover comes from within, and you've got to grasp that love for living, have a purpose in life and keep pushing yourself. Our kid couldn't do that no matter what we said and tried to do for her, she was on a mission . There is help, but the person concerned must want to use it, not abuse it!

I wasn't saying whats the most worthy, but what is worthy and what isn't in my opinion. Black and white, no shades of grey there. An addict with no intention of fighting their weakness isn't worthy in my opinion. I can't help but think of MANY genuine causes, like the example I gave. Nothing silly about that. I don't idolise the man, so have no more sympathy for him than any other like him. People can throw their money where they want, I wouldn't call/judge anybody for it either. Just out of interest mate....do you therefore consider the AA organisation as " unworthy " ?....its not a charity and its full of addicts many with no intention of fighting their weakness.................what is a genuine case when it comes to addictions,do you have to admit your an addict before you qualify as a genuine case ?......................Alcoholism as a disease just doesnt work like that. Unworthy of my money, probably yes. If somebody has a problem and really does want to knock it on the head, I'll gladly help them where I can, but after several years and promises and lies and weak ass efforts I kinda start to think "well f**k you". Maybe that makes me a c**t, but that's the way I feel with these people. I just find it very hard to justify. That's me personally. It's no didfferent to any other drug addiction (even heroin), and I guess it's no different to eating dissorders or annorexia. But where do we draw the line? What about criminals with psychological compulsions, should we be all understanding of them? f**k knows, there not really questions to anybody, just what goes through my head. As I've said, folks can do what they like with their money, that's none of my bussiness, but I wouldn't give a penny personally.
