Its absolutely nothing to do with sport its about sticking up for my own.......your an Englishman in England i,ll stick up for you,your wife,your kids just the same as i,ll stick up for Gazza.........long before i,ll stick up for people we have no connection with.

What the problem/illness is....is irrellevant its about standing up for your fellow Englishman.....or woman/child......and putting our own kind first.

thats fair enough , but i dont stick up for anybody who was someone who achived greatly in any career and become a legend , its up to them to keep there legend status after there career...................i will stick up for my own for the right reasons...................gary glitter was a great singer but because of what he is i couldnt care if he dropped dead tommorrow..........a true legend in my eyes can be in disrepute for activities done in later life..............

ok gazza cant be compared to peados .........................but the guy has beat his misses and had numerous chances .................im all for chances but even his own family got shite on after they were doing all they could to cure him,.................

at the end of the day its nothing to do about standing by your own this thread was about giving to a worthy cause and i think there are better worthy causes here in england / great britain........

From what I can gather his problems aren't only drink related but his mental health isn't at it's best these days either, which can lead people to do things they normally wouldn't.

lukey maybe because of my situation i just see things a little different ,............and when you see some one who could of had everything and had more chances than a cat................it gets too you because there are alot who dont get a second chance and to make it worst it was self propelled......

I certainly agree with your general point. But then I'm not influenced by his hero/legendary status. I'm just looking at the whole thing as objectively as possible.

hes had lots of problems ,.angina,.kidneys...... etc............

He isn't a hero he hasn't brought a ground breaking medical cure into this world ... Half of his problems are born out of his not coming to terms with his footballing days are over at the end of his playing carear he could not let go he is not the first and wont be the last its ok every one saying he has wasted money etc Untill you relise his life was not normal every day from the age of 11 everything was mapped out for him what he ate slept etc training every day most days finishing at 2 kids with to much money and to much spare time surrounded by hangers on , drink , horses golf gazza hated golf , and horses Were did he feel comfotable. Amonst his own the drink became his friends his friends or so called freinds compounded an allready out of controll habit , football in gazzas day was saturday straight out after the match on the piss till monday Gazza is one of many pro players who have a drink problem there are many , gazza loves life he was allways the center of the craic and when he found himself out in the cold and not the center of attraction. The bottle was his old pal. The soldier analogy is a bit below the belt gazza did loads for sevice charity and would still do it if asked the drawring of comparisons is unfair , he like many other sportmen is the victim of his own life stly not every one can be david beckham and what a boring world it would be without the like of gazza

As I've said I hope the man gets better.... But this whole Gazza Appeal is a "look at me" media thing... The sun couldn't give a shit it's to sale papers, the fa I would guess instrumented the England players bit to the kitty.. Good pr work... Celebs the same.... I think a lot of it is to do with the lifestyle they lead once there playing for big money , but if that were the case then wouldnt all players earning obscene amounts of money be the same , ?
