RubyTex 1,957
Yeah give him another chance and financial help through rehab...but if he falls off the wagon again i'd just leave him to it. There's only so much help you can give a person if they don't have the willpower to go through with it themselves.

I'm sorry to hear this Whippet, but mate its not about comparing which one is the worst. Some people no matter how pathetic and selfish they seem, some just cannot get a grip. I hope Gazza can find a bit of stability in his life and is able to get the better of his demons, but I somehow see it all ending pretty bad for him.
NEWKID 27,278
Alcoholism is medically a disease, but ultimately it's up to you to cure it... Isn't it? I hope he does succeed in his battle, obviously... But I have my doubts, he seems a lost cause as sad as that is... He has a lot of friends and they have done a good thing to rally round for a friend, but there's only so much you can do enventually.... Perhaps some of his close mates should have pulled him to one side years ago, instead if standing beside him at the bar... Who knows.... My grandfather was an alcoholic, he ran a successful roofing firm but would sit on the park bench drinking with the tramps... Alcohol has affected our family greatly.. My father lost his brother in road accident through drink driving.. And parts of our lives have been shaped because of the demon drink... I'm not ignorant to it......... I'm just not sure if any amount if money can help Gazza, Whippet 99 My thoughts are with you and yours mate as I've said before...

Lab 10,979
If people want to give, let them. Thats basically it. There no debate really. He has friends with lots more dosh than they no what to do with and if they want to bung him a few quid then go ahead. Ive never really had a liking for Gazza because of his choice of team in a certain period of his life.. but he has always been a funny man and probably one of the best footballing talents this world has ever seen. Pity he has lost that all for the drink.
