Rake aboot 4,935
Out again today. Felt really shit, but couldn`t not go, so dragged my sorry arse out into the hills. After stalking a bit woodland, I headed up towards a highseat. As I rounded the corner, a buck and 2 does were out grazing 40 mtrs away. The buck was in the way, and while waiting for him to move,, he spooked ! They moved further down the feild, but this allowed me to creep into the highseat, got in, waited and sure enough, back they came. Because of a bit of pruning needing done, I had a window to shoot when the beast was at around 90 mtr, so dropped it. Watched for a while thinking I might get the second best,, and the buck lay down next to the dead beast. The follower did this as well, so I eventually got off the seat and spooked them off. Dealt with the beast and back to the car, all the while coughing up a lung and dying on my feet,, Wrapped up with a hot drink now, feeling knacked. Never got a pic as I was to ill to remember, but my stalking buddy dropped a doe the was around 48lb clean,, big bugger like. Anyway,, off to feel sorry for myself with a drink. Still the best way to spend an afternoon though, and the .222 keeps on impressing. 3 Quote Link to post

Wullz 408
Thats a crackin looking .222 rake. Not like mine! I could stick a bayonet on the end of mine and go over the top! Well done....nice result for dying of the cold! Just took delivery of 2 highseats this morning.....wife phoned up going mental about the size of the 2 things lying in the garden!!! Cannae wait for those balmy summers nights sitting above the sun dappled meadow.....oh wait.....I live in Scotland...... Quote Link to post
Rake aboot 4,935
Hahaha,, aye, what summers that then eh ?? The rifle is a Tika M595 stainless, with optilocks it cost me 470, from Dicksons in Edinburgh !! good deal methinks, I had an old BSA CF2 .222 restored, and they wanted it, so upped the ante till I couldn`t say no, Glad I did. The 595 is the best rifle I`ve shot,, far better than the T3 I bought brand new,. Quote Link to post
