I think a kenneled dog needs a bit more grub in winter to keep the weight on.

I give a token small scoop of dry on a morning but the main meal is last thing at night

20c in house -10c outside. Just common sense to me really. They gonna need a few more calories.

 

 

 

if your dogs getting plenty of work.....out in the elements,then it should have a good coat on it either way?...

my dogs get an hour out at 6am before i go to work, then in the kennel with a good meaty bone to keep them occupied and quiet in the day. proper exercise after i'm done work for the day, then a good feed once they have cooled down afetr exercise

I think a kenneled dog needs a bit more grub in winter to keep the weight on.

If your kennels are up to scratch then they shouldnt need extra food..nor a heat lamp and such..the key is a quality kennel :thumbs: if your dog needs any of these then you are not housing them suitably..jmo ;)

I wonder what planet some of you are on honestly.

 

These are my kennels and I still put a coat on and feed a bit extra or a warm meal when it drops below 0c.

 

Kennels could me brick built and insulated, it's still gonna get chilly...

It will be insulated with kingspan and then ply lined. It's still gonna be f***ing cold when its -10c though.

Once a day for my current dog unless I am doing a lot with him or need to put the weight on. It all depends on the dog and its situation there are no rules to me other than I never leave food down all the time wether a pup or a adult.

A block built kennel ..rendered..insulated and then ply lined with suitable bedding....at a suitable size is whats needed..and thats what ive got...dogs never lost one bit of weight or condition ..water bowl never froze once in the -14 temps we got last year...a factory thrown together cheap shiplap kennel is bound to get chilly despite being insulated....im on planet earth mate and me dogs are as happy and warm as larry....dont want to sound a cnut Gaz but thats how i kennel me dogs and never had a problem with the cold :thumbs:
