Tiercel 6,986
The one major drawback with bisley nets is that they do not have enough slack. They are 2/3rds rigged, that is the net is 2/3rds of the stretched length of the netting. That works out like this a good rigged net will be rigged by halves, 100 yards of stretched netting will give you a 50 yard net. A 50 yard bisley net will only have 75 yards of stretched netting therefor the rigged net is 2/3rds the length of the stretched netting. TC Quote Link to post
Jack.308 40
I see mate, could i not cut the draw cord and but a new one in to make it to a 37yrd net? Quote Link to post
smithie 2,443
you could do that but be sure of the length of the net to cut the line to suit Quote Link to post
Tiercel 6,986
you could do that but be sure of the length of the net to cut the line to suit That is very good advice M. To find the correct length of line you need count the meshes( it only takes a few minutes) Then divide the amount of meshes by 18 if it is a 4" mesh and that will give you the yardage of the net. As an example if you had 90 meshes divide that by 18 gives you 5. So 90 meshes is a 5 yard net rigged by halves. TC Quote Link to post
Jack.308 40
Im alittle con fussed why divide it by 18? Quote Link to post
Tiercel 6,986
Im alittle con fussed why divide it by 18? Because as I explained in the last post in a net with good slack, IE; a good catching net with a 4" mesh. There are 18 meshes to every yard of rigged net. So as an example if the net has 180 meshes it will make a 10 yard net that is half it's stretched length or as some like to call it 100% bag. I can see you are a beginner just take the good advice you have been offered leave them alone. They are no good at catching rabbits. Please trust me. TC I could realy confuse him,,,,, what if there a 4 .1/4 mesh...lol. To be honest I think long nets work far better in the larger mesh, 2. 1/8 = 4 1/4. 2. 1/4 = 4.1/2 1 Quote Link to post
