I sometimes think i will be aswell sticking £100 a month in a jar and letting it build up for a rainy day. If they don't have a serious accident I've got the cash Quote Link to post

Then I know other lads who are at the vets 3-4 times a season. Touch wood my bitch hasn't had to go yet. Everything has been treatable at home. 1 Quote Link to post

Country Joe 1,411
I have known a few vets over the years, and if you turn up with camo gear and a lamp, with an injured Dog, they would not be bothered. As long as you had the insurance claims form in your pocket. As that means ££££££. I would have just insured the dog as a cross breed, what I would do, is look at the small print, as I have been told that some insurance companies, will not consider you insured unless your inoculations, boosters are up to date. paulus 26
ive got 3 dogs 14/11 and 6 this year ive never had insurence and paid vets bills when ive had to. probably a total of a £1000 or so over the years. if i had insured them, even at £10 a month each that would be roughly £3270 over the same period, admittedly i do treat most injuries myself though. robwelsh 354
Can't you just pay it over the season ? Lol Quote Link to post
nothernlite 18,089
Does it not go up in price every year ? Quote Link to post
robwelsh 354
Not unless dogs are just as bad as humans for claiming for broken nail lol Quote Link to post

I do agree with that as i have my 3 insured and i have never claimed, however my sisters dog is 7 and has diabetes, epilepsy and cataracts vets fees are about £2000 for all his checks and medication but she pays her insurance excess at £75 and thats it sorted Quote Link to post

Ok thats your personal circumstances, no motor etc. I have my two insured for £11 per month and once i got one that needed stitching up whilst out lamping at 2am. The emergancy vet got a call out and that was it, just said the dog caught itself when chasing a squirrel. On the insurance claim form you dont have to mention lamp or whatever. The vet dont care, he wants you to make a claim so he gets the money. Quote Link to post
kruby01 114
No im not saying everyone is in my position, all i was doing was pointing out that petplan will insure working dogs for a reasonable price as there is alot of posts ive seen where people are struggling to get insurance. if you dont want to insure your dogs thats fair enough i was just stating there is a company out there that you can be honest with and it wont break the bank.
