darren m 1
my mate told me he once had to dig down to 8 feet to recover his ferret . he said he was in a trench well above his head and was shitting it incase it clapsed in on him , any way the little fert suddenly appeared at the top of the hole looking down on him , he was,nt too pleased Quote Link to post
SeanTheHawker 0
ive located my ferrets to 6 feet, but if thats the case i wait it out (unless the trap themselves), sometimes flapping a dead rabbit at a hole can help. once at a field meet, and a mates ferret laid up, most have been about 5 foot, when he got 4 foot, it was dark, and had to leave it overnight, next day after digging deeping, we realised there was a concrete pipe for the last foot, had to break through it, luckily teh ferret lived Quote Link to post
FERRETBOY 680
deepest for me is about 3ft with a stick.me and the father never took a spade really because were poaching most the time and we didnt want people thinking where after badgers or something.but after we dug that 3ft with the stick we certainly learnt our lesson and always take a small spade just incase. good hunting rew Edited July 20, 2007 by REW Quote Link to post

Thats one impressive hole RH (sounds wrong? ) but the soil dosent look to hard, Still wouldnt fancy digging it though I've got lovely soft peat in the majority of my places so digging should be a doddle but the b*****ds always lay up under roots or scrap or under the only patch of clay you can find I normally get 3-4footers but have been deeper on several occasions, 6fts my limit though i'd rather sit and wait after that Gnipper Quote Link to post
