Country Joe 1,411
I know this subject has been done many times, but I was talking to my local Butcher today, who told me an electric mincer costing about £100 will mince skinned rabbit on the bone, if cut into pieces. he says the trick is to freeze the rabbit, then when you thaw out, when its just nearly thawed put it through the mincer, it works a lot better than using it fresh. Do you lads think an electric mincer roughly this price would do the trick. I know the big heavier ones are best, but i find them too expensive for what i need. LaraCroft 863
I use a hand mincer - takes a bit of work, but it was £2 from a carboot, rather than a 3 figure sum I can't afford. My Dad put a much longer handle on it for me, for extra oomph, and I find it goes through most stuff ok. Agree that mincing after the rabbit has done it's freezer time is easier.
Sirius 1,391
He's right about the part frozen bit but with a £100 budget you will be lucky unless second hand. We hav had 3 or 4 different ones over the last 10years or so and the bigger more expensive ones are best. Looking around the £200+ mark.

skycat 6,173
It might struggle on old rabbit leg bones: they are the hardest bones in an adult rabbit. When I had a mincer similar to that we had to smash up the rabbits a bit with an axe to get them through it, and the motor whined like hell sometimes. We always mince hard lamb or beef fat with rabbit, and it didn't like that much either: used to clog up a bit. But definitely a lot easier than a hand mincer!
FUJI 17,327
I have a Hobart...it was £15 in a second hand shop lol...it's seen some serious work and only problem I've had was to rewire the main power cable...bombproof and rabbits, hares and whatever else can fit in does lol...if you can get one for under £200 you will not regret buying it IMO.
