Wayne Andrew 38
imo the colour of a ferret makes no difference to their workin abilities some work well some are shit but to say that one colours better or more steady ie easier to handle than the other just aint true like ive said in all colours some good some bad imo its all to do with the amount of time you put into them A.T.B Quote Link to post

pie-eater 377
They all work the same as far as I can see but I prefer the lighter coloured ferrets because theyre easier to spot in the undergrowth. 1 Quote Link to post

Dazzam 239
Just to put this myth to bed. I was bored earlier and i have this jill polecat which is a great wee worker. I have spent all morning dying her coat so she is now an albino/dew. I'm going to get her out for a few hours tomorrow and i'll let you know how she gets on 1 Quote Link to post

Alot of people wont work hobs which I think is part of the problem. Ive met ferreters who have a few jills which they work and have a hob just for breeding. I think good working blood is being watered down with hobs who havent been put to the test. Quote Link to post
The one 8,522
Ive been out with guys who's ferrets could get a few rabbits out a medium sized burrow , but show them a fifty plus holer the ferret couldn't make anything of it or go deep enough to push the rabbits outs . One place a banking with six hundred plus holes im no putting my ferret in there . And as you said you need to test both parents to be able to say there out of working parents but even this is no guarantee of a half descent worker . Quote Link to post
