Yep it been done to death...

 

But after my last two ferreting trips in the snow,,, I have the definite answer,, and so does my mate young vin.

 

It's 10z nylon,,, now I know the purists out there like there hemp,, and spun poly,,, but after these last few weeks the 10z rules.

 

Now I make my own nets,, and have yoused evry material,, from hemp to poly , Barbour twine, Irish linin, polished cotton, you name it I have tried it in 25 years of knitting.

 

But that poly over these last outings has stuck together with snow , mud ,and just getting wet through,,, on the other hand the 10z had none of these problems, and was easy to use at the end of the day as it was at the start,,, that can't be said for the poly,,, yesterday I spent half an hour with hose pipe washing them all down and drying them..

 

Going to crack on with this 10z sheet now,, and braid a load more up

I hate sheet netting bought a few over the years purse nets that is , and after one season there coming away from the rings : ( grrrrr will buy twenty hand made blue 4 foot nylon 10 z nets this summer , so any net makers pm me with a price oh yellow draw cord be nice to ,

Never had that problem with poly,But yes i have some 10z nylon and there good,There again i have allsorts they all have there place including 4z.Even have one i picked up years ago made of wool.

They are a good cheap option braided on to 1 1/4 rings. Still like my poly nets especially the heavier gauge stuff which can be more durable IMO.

Hate hemp just a pain to maintain.

I usually make and use my heavy spun ploy nets and with your usual temperate weather then great. However with the smoother texture of the nylon i can see where Tomo is coming from.

All my nets are 10z nylon. Cracking nets. They don't pick up shite like 4z and anything over 3"6 will bag any bunny if set right. But the best type of net is one with a coney in it, so if it works for you, get and do it.

i changed over from 12oz to 10oz a while ago for the nets i make, make them yourself not cheat with sheet netting :laugh:

I make nets and like the poly my self, each to there orn when I comes to nets and you go with what works for you. Tomo do you put a ring on both ends, I don't like the one ring nets that lads put together my self..atb

Ring both ends mate,,, although I did make some up a few years back with sliders one end and a ring at the other,, I have seen nets with no rings at all,, and they still worked,,

the ring is only a means of starting or finishing a net the closing mechanisum doesnt matter as long as it works
