I'm in Derbyshire and a friend just had a variation returned and they seem to have started putting the lawful shooting of deer on certificates even if you don't have a deer legal calibre. The biggest calibre he has is a .204 ruger.

It could be they are putting the lawful killing of deer, as coverall for shooting injured deer, (even though they don't need to, in my mind as that is already covered)

On the other hand it could be genuine mistake.

Only one way of finding out though, and that is for one of you to ask them the question and let us all know.

i have all the exsperiance needed as ive been brought u on farms doing everything from trapping foxes to smokin rats to ferrating to flying birds of pray. for pest control.

The shooting of rabbits etc is usually termed vermin control. Running a business to kill 'orible creepy crawlies up to deer is usually called pest control. You can use the guns to kill whatever is says on your licence - mine for example says any lawful quarry. If you want to set up a business then you need appropriate knowledge or advice.

you say you can use your rifles to kill anything on your license but i no a 17hmr and 22lr are not suitable to humanely kill deer and it is also against the law so that carnt be correct.

it says i can humainly dispatch animals wich would obviously be a fox in a live trap. ive been paid for this sort of work on a chicken farm before but per fox. and as this fox has attacked a baby in a home although i personly think itl be a dog that there trying to protect from being put down.it got me thinking about pest control

what i wanted to no was other than my firearms, insurance and equipment do i need any other permits (im not going to be using poisen) i run my own buisness as it is it was just something that i was thinking about as i no there a fair bit of money iniit for foxes, ferals in warehouses and rabbits on golfcourses etc.

thanks dan

If you have permission to perform pest/vermin control, and you do it for free, then that's fine. If you want to charge a fee for that pest/vermin control that's a whole different ball game. You need to know health and safety, do a risk assesment, all the legislation that goes with the occupation. When you do kill some thing how will you dispose of the carcase. You'll need insurance that'll cover you as a professional pest controller. You could just ignore all these things but if something goes wrong, and you end up in court they'll throw the book at you. You have a 'Duity of care' and if you haven't shown 'Due dilligence' you won't have a leg to stand on. As for the far bit of money in it?, only from people who are willing to pay, and the reason they will pay is if you can show that you have got everything I've listed. Old Farmer 1 cow ain't gonna' give you a penny to shoot pigeons in his cow shed, crows out on his field, fox after his chickens, why would he?, he's got loads of people that are willing to do it for free if he'll give them permission. If there is a factory that is dealing in food grade materials that has a pigeon problem, they'll pay you to come and sort them out. But a factory that has every one wearing 'high Vis' and fork lifts going 5MPH won't even let you on the premises without a B.P.C.A , R.S.P.H level2 certificate. Same goes for any Council that might want a pest controller, but then, they have all their pest control contracted out. If you want to do it for fun, then yes. If you want to do it to make a load of quick cash, it ain't gonna' happen.
