mC HULL 12,285
i think caught with bunnys worst be a fine £100 o so fox they take dog report rspca same with deer depending how you dispatch it could be a bit of jail If caught with rabbits but the case against you is poaching hares (and that depends who is bringing the case) you could get "a bit of" jail and a fine. And your gear and dogs confiscated. if your caught with rabbits then how can you get done for hare??you cant tget jail for rabbit or hare not unless you broke an asbo they put in place Wasn't there a Scottish case in 2010 where the guys were done on public land? Their defence was they were rabbitting. I think you have to be realistic here. It doesn't matter what you're intended quarry is if you are poaching. The RSPCA have money to burn and can quite easily fabricate an indefencible (to the working man) case around forbidden quarry. If you have a couple of little terriers they can't realistically say you're chasing hare or deer - but they can if you're running saluki or deerhound-types. Do you really trust them to do the right thing? I don't. How do you prove whose dog you are running? It's not up to them to prove it's your dog - you are a poacher with a hunting dog, remember, so already guilty in their eyes. walking with a dog will be tresspass in pursuit of game oldd laws silly fine same for rabbit but the hunting act is different hare fox deer much harsher to be done under this you would have to be caught or someone see you chasing slipping killing or have with you a dead fox hare or deer they have to prove you was intentionly chasing a fox hare or deer Quote Link to post

woz 260
In rural Shropshire there's 4 police on duty for a feck off large area..covering some decent sized towns so they really can't be arsed with a lamp in a field.....feel really sorry for you guys with anti poaching squads and helicopters that can be called at a moments notice....... 5 Quote Link to post

However, under animal welfare law, which they can and will apply as needed, a 410 would be classed as unsuitable weapon and you could be done for causeing undue suffering to a creature. 12 bore and minimum of 32g of No.5. Walked up hare are invariably running away, so you need to shoot/carry a gun and load that would be up to the task if need be. Quote Link to post
