Neil85 22
I'm after some advice on a good all round lurcher. I've had a variety of dogs in the past but I'm looking at getting a lurcher after some time away from the sport. I'm favouring a whippetxcolliexgreyhound mix as I have had success with these in the past. However I am struggling to find a pup by this description and was wondering what some of you are using. Oh and I'm not interested in a bull x which seem to be the 'in' thing atm. Any suggestions/experiences greatly appriciated Quote Link to post
Gaz_1989 9,539
Depending how all round you want then a dash of bull blood could serve you well. I'm giving the beddy cross alot of consideration at the moment. 3/4 grey 1/4 beddy or beddy/grey x whip/grey. Not all round as such but should be pretty versatile. Quote Link to post

low plains drifter 10,416
first lurcher i had was deerhound greyhound x collie greyhound, dont seem popular nowadays but good honest dogs and have a decent go at most things day or night Quote Link to post
Neil85 22
the cross you have mentioned should be fine pal I do like that cross but I am struggling to find any pups. That sounds like a good dog Daz but its the deerhound that puts me off as they are a really large dog. Looking for something around 25/26"tts, as I will have it in the house all the time due to dogs being stolen in the area before. Quote Link to post

My brothers currently running a bedlingtonxwhippet and shes a smashing little dog, really starting to come on. Think I will have to consider some sort of beddy cross however crossed whippet they are a bit small, his only stands 19" and looks like a strong wind could blow it over, good ferreting though Quote Link to post
low plains drifter 10,416
The deerhound cross I had was 26 inch tts,if you can get one out of working type deerhounds rather than show bred deerhounds ,should'nt get too tall, also had a first cross bedlington greyhound bitch, ran her as a coursing bitch (pre ban)she was only 23 inch tts very game little bitch, keen on the lamp aswell, but repeated short sprints used to cause her a lot of toe and stopper injuries Quote Link to post
