Hugget Shroud And Moderator

Recommended Posts

Hi All

Just a quick question. I currently have a HW100SK in .22, with the stock silencer. Its a very nice, accurate and quiet enough gun. Now the question is, aside from its asthetics. Is the Hugget shroud and mod really worth the £140 price tag and does it really make that much of a difference ?. I know the HW mod is said to be one of the best on the market and I agree its a quality bit of kit. However the hugget shroud has caught my interest, and have heard stories that once fitted all you can hear is the hammer spring ?? I have seen people just put a tube of carbon fibre over the barrel, which costs fifteen quid and has the desired effect. But I would just like your opinion guys, to help me decide.

My mate got one on his mk4 mate, it is quieter than a hw with a pellet in it. It's couple of inches shorter too...about inch or so off the actual shroud, an inch or so off the actual silencer bit ..an looks about million times better. If your keeping the gun , get one..if not they are expensive..so think about that lol

I have a Huggett on my FX Cyclone and it is worth every penny, the rifle is virtually silent.

Huggett are linked to Milbro which is Ben Taylors company and he only ever puts his name to the very best quality kit.

Buy one mate, you will not be disappointed.

Regards.

My personal opinion in a word ..... No!

There are single silencers out there that do the job a lot better, I'm not just talking about the A&M ones, it's a lot of cash to make your rifle look good, but it's all down to personal preference

Ive had a look at one and taken it apart - I was under the impression that on the hugget the shroud dosn't really do anything extra but look pritty, there is no way for the air to get from the silencer or the barrel back down the shroud and out the nice vents at the bottom (from what I saw) they also are machined in a way once you have the shroud fitted you cant fit another silencer.

My personal opinion is - the silencer itself is very good (par with the HW), the silencer and shroud combo dosnt give enough for the money, however they do look very smart.

Perhaps you should speak to Risingfriend or Wedge as they both have the full system fitted

As Adam said. I believe in 4-5 weeks time they are bringing two more silencer sizes out, small being the size of the iPhone, normal and large.the small was tested to be only 2db louder than the normal. If your after the shortest shroud/silencer combo I'd wait .

Listen to Marksman, he'se got a lot of experience with the top moderators, the telling comment from him is honest. He actually sells excellent moderators! BUT NOTE! he didnt try to push you to buy one of the brand he sells. A lot of stuff being touted as the dogs danglies isnt any better than the lower priced stuff. Well said Dazzer.

If im honest i brought the shroud silencer combo because of looks and performance as Adam said the shroud is pretty much a visual item but the silencer is very good its on a par with the weirauch in my opinion no techy measuring though but silent all the same, one of the reasons for fitting was the length also. they are a lot of money but it comes down to personal choice, there are many on the market that are as good and better for less money. if you want peformance as opposed to bling then its a no brainer. just my opinion though ATB Aaron.

I have a Huggett on my MK4.

Verdict

looks 10/10

Silencing - 9/10

Value - 5/10

To be honest it sounds the same to me as with the Weirauch silencer I had before. It's a touch shorter, but otherwise very little difference. I was hoping for more from it as a shroud/silencer combo and to be fair, it does work very well, just not £145 well. Price for this should be £80-100, not £145

If cost is a concern, don't bother. The Weirauch silencer is just as good.
