HIGHAM 47
Not managed to get out with the stinkers over this weekend just gone so seeing as the weather has been alot better today for both ferrets and goss hawk myself and my mate aranged a couple of hours on my permission . myself armed with the ferret and small spade and my mate holding the hawk we headed over the fields and into a thick wooded area , whilst out walking the dogs last week i noticed a load of bew earths so we decided to try them ... tried a few small ones and had no luck so carried on walking and found a 3 holer in a small banking surrounding a swampy area , my mate Ben got in possition with the hawk and i entered the stinker , couple of minutes and BANG out one bolts , then another , then another ... the bird cane very close to nailing them but the cover was to thick , oh well they will keep for another day i suppose !!! walked to another warren we havnt tried before , again ben got himself in a decent place baring in mind this wooded area is rather dense in went the stinker and we stood waiting , rabbit bolted threw a hole we didnt see and there was no way the bird could have taken it so again that one was left to run another day . About 2 minutes passed and another bolt from the hole in the picture , this one wasnt so lucky and was caught within 25 yards or so ... as we didnt want to over do it on the rabbits being end of season we let the bird have a feed and waited for the stinker to emerge ( no such luck ) haha got a mark at about 4.5 feet in the worst place known to man , right in the roots of 2 big trees , oh well time to dig , away we went. took the sod off the top and straight away hit thick roots managed to get threw them with the little spade being used as an axe and finally broke threw , stinker and rabbit removed after a load of hand shoveling haha not going to bore you all so theres some pics to make ur own minds up , good couple of hours work and a good laff backfilled as per usual you cant catch them all as today proved but you can still have some good sport with good company and good animals atb matt 1 Quote Link to post
