fxshooter 18
I recently purchased an Air Arms Pro Sport in 177. The scope it came with is a piece of cheap junk, so I bought myself a MTC Mamba Lite 4-16x44. Previously I used Sportsmatch two piece mounts for the scope on my FX Cyclone which I am well pleased with. The advice I need is: As the Pro Sport is spring powered should I use a one piece mount or stick with two piece? I used Sportsmatch mounts as the guys at the club I use ( Midshires Marksman) said they were the best you can get for airguns. Are there any other brands that are just as good? Quote Link to post
Skot Ruthless Teale 1,701
i have a sportsmatch one piece on my hw95k thats a very smooth low recoiling rifle but i still think, personally, ALL spring rifles deserve a one piece mount, with recoil pin thing aswell. just got another sportsmatch one piece for my hw97kt aswell. before i got sportsmatch mounts i was using a hawke 1 piece mount and that never let me down, just a bit cheaper than the sportsmatch. a lot of people do use 2 piece mounts on springers tho.... i just prefer the 1 piece all the best SKoT Edited February 11, 2013 by Skot Ruthless Teale Quote Link to post

Skot Ruthless Teale 1,701
yeah its a great little scope, i had its big brother aswell the mtc Mamba 4-16x50 with all the IR and that was also a great quality scope, was just a bit too big for my preference though .. Quote Link to post
fxshooter 18
Thanks mate, I wanted something low profile as my hawke is a great scope but the turrets are a bit too big for my liking. Regards. Russ Quote Link to post
davyt63 1,845
hi buddy yes you are best of with a one piece mount i use sports match on my springers, just make sure it has the recoil pin. Davy Quote Link to post
fxshooter 18
Thanks Davy, Looks like I will be getting a one piece Sportsmatch mount, with the recoil pin. Enjoyed meeting you and the other THL guys yesterday. Regards and best wishes. Russ Quote Link to post
ghillies 209
personaly i ended up on a one peace mount and an areester block..depend how much recooil and how good the mounts grip but..shit comes to a shove a 2 peace mount could theoretically bince up into its self with an areester block..in theory or too much recoil or or orr.. unless you know for sure get the 1 peace, if that moves then the arrester block..breach allowing. pianoman 3,587
Hi Russ. I'm making a case for the defence of two-piece mounts. I have no problems regarding scope creep or canting due to recoil from my spring rifles using Sportsmatch two-piece mounts. And, unlike one-piece mounts, two-piece offer you the perfect spacing-adjustment set-up to balance and distribute the weight of the scope over the rifle and offer the perfect eye-relief setting. Nothing wrong with one-piece whatsoever. This is my personal reason why I use 2-piece. Your Prosport is a lovely rifle that won't give you scope worries whatever you use. As long as your mounts are Sportsmatch. Quality is vital on this issue of scope mounting.. Simon Quote Link to post
fxshooter 18
Simon, Thanks for advice mate, whatever mounts I buy they will be made by Sportsmatch. I've read some of your posts on here about spring guns and have always found them to be well written and very informative. I am new to shooting and have only shot my FX Cyclone for the past six months, the Prosport is my entry into the world of spring guns so all advice is greatly received. Thanks again. Atb. Russ. pianoman 3,587
Thanks Russ mate that is very kind of you to say this. I've been shooting spring rifles for many years and I've learned a thing or two about shooting them over time. I definitely think you have it right with the Mamba Lite...Great scopes and a perfect hunting spec optic. Get your hold and trigger right on your Prosport Russ and you'll match -and even out-perform any PCP for accuracy. I promise you. Air Arms spring rifles, particularly in .177 are pure magic! All the best for your shooting with it Russ. Simon Quote Link to post
