Air Arms Springers

Recommended Posts

Hi everybody

At the moment I have a hw100 witch is unbelievably accurate all the way to 61 yards longest range I have witch I can get 13 out of 14 shots on a 1 inch spinner.

I must be honest I only really go target shooting so a rifle this good gets a little boring.

So out o the pro sport and tx200hc witch should I buy I do prefer the look of the tx200 over the pro sport (no its not a typo) but is the prosport that much better than the tx200 I will probs get whatever one I get tuned

thanks for any replies in advance

Elitism from PCP owners Phil?. Look as far as I'm concerned, PCPs were invented to give accuracy to people who have none. That is a painful truth. Or why can't your average PCP-only shooter hit a bar

I think would I would do in your shoes is keep the 100 and look for a cheap 2nd hand tx or 97. Then if you decide springers are not for you, you havnt lost your 100. Some people just can't get the kna

If I ever won a good lump sum on the National Lottery I would get together with Davy, give him a large lump sum and together buy a plot of land and have a proper 50 m indoor range built with cafe, sho

Ok, my biggest suggestion to you is go handle them both and if you can, with a scope attached. Reason for this is they both feel very different and balance completely differently. The tx for me feels more front heavy and I would say its because of the under lever the tx has. The prosport balances more centrally. I've owned both of the latest models of both guns you talk about and for me the most accurate of the two has to be the prosport but in someone else's hands the tx may be more accurate for them. It just depends what fits and feels right for you.

Whichever one you go for you won't be disappointed as they are both two of the finest spring piston rifles out there. You mention tuning them but this really isn't required as they are both like tuned rifles out the box! The pro sport is expensive and is a marmite cocking procedure, but if you shoulder one and like it, it's worth every penny.

If I was you, I would get the pro sport as it has the edge over the tx for me personally. If I couldn't afford the pro sport and had to buy the tx I still wouldn't, mainly because I would opt for a hw97 and then further down the line have it tuned.

Both rifles you mention will stack pellet on pellet in the right hands and both are equally at home on the ft/hft scene as well as paper targets or even in the hunting environment.

The biggest bit of advice would be go and shoulder them and if possible fire both rifles. You will instantly know that's for sure what feels best for you.

I am going through the exact same situation with my HW100. Keep comimg back to the prosport, but the cocking action takes some getting used to. good luck!

Lets just say the mrs is getting sick of seeing it, hearing about it and watching me type on this forum singing its praises! They truly are fantastic! Although mines had to go back to air arms for a minor fault on the cocking lever so should be back shortly, where I will caress its beauty again!

I think it going to have to be theeeeeee

Ummmm

I don't know

Been down the shop they both feel very nice in my hands and seem to fit me the same but having got to hold them made me choose the pro sport only due to the tx being very front heavy in my opinion just need to sell up and get one on order thanks guy glad I asked as I would of bought the tx200 otherwise

As above, there's nothing between those two mechanically, it's all about how they feel to you.

The guts of both rifles are the same, it's just that the Prosport has been re engineered to allow the cocking lever to live in the stock instead of under the barrel. This does change the way they handle and feel but little else.

You'll be fine however you go and as has already been mentioned, HW do some pretty handy under levers too.

Handle both TX and Prosport and shoot with both and see which you prefer between them.

All I know is my experience of owning a few TX200s. I'd say they; and the Prosport are all alike mechanically, as Andy points out above. But, in .177 the TX200HC is a genuine tackdriver. I've had a .22 TX200 rifle on my FAC which was not as nice. Maybe because, when Andy serviced it, it was found to be almost bone dry of oils or grease. ( :hmm: Air Arms quality control issue!) But, that was traded for an HW97KT .177 which is currently undergoing tuning and refining courtesy of Sandwell Field Sports and Andy here. :toast:

The TX200HC MkIII .177 I currently own is a genuine supergun. :toast: Superbly accurate and beautiful to hunt and shoot with. And the factory walnut stock it has is a work of art.

If they made the Prosport in a Left Hand version I would have both a .22 and a .177 calibre version in my collection. In either case, TX or Prosport, the spring rifles Air Arms are making nowadays are genuinely beautiful guns.
