Sickness Or Diarreah Bug...

Recommended Posts

That's good news, but it should have been white rice. I know brown contains more goodness, but it is higher in fibre which can, in some cases if the gut is inflamed, be more difficult to digest. I normally feed brown rice, but always keep a bag of white in the cupboard just in case a dog gets a dodgy gut.

No food at all for at least 24 hours. Just small amounts of water at a time. Every half hour: don't let her fill her guts. If she's not vomiting then there's a good chance it is a nasty gastro-enterit

there you have it ...................from the horses mouth and dont cost a thing ................shes a gooden .................

No way. I went out and purchased brown rice especially. Had got 2 bags of white in!

Never mind. Live and learn

Just been for a walk around the block 10 mins tops.

She was fine. Emptied herself all fairly normal considering. Bouncing around wanting to run.

No sickness or blood in last 36 hours.

When would you say she will be good to have a run? I aren't talking about lamping but just mooching off lead so she can stretch her legs? She's been housebound for a week until this morning.

Cheers

Give her another couple of days on the lead. Inflammation of the digestive tract (gut) can take a while to settle down, so I'd avoid strenuous exercise until she's been crapping normally for a few days.

Ive just been through the same with one of my dogs, although she was in resp distress and pain with it also

ended up costing near enough 700, its gastro enteritis - she was already on support therapy when she started crapping blood,

like your first picture its all blood out of the gut, took 5 days for her to start eating again, right as rain now though.

That's good, but you can see from the colour that there is still blood in it: take it nice and steady and keep her on the chicken and rice for another week: that's what I would do if it were my dog. And the slippery elm. Also plain yoghurt or probiotics.
