I don't know what line of whippet your running mate, but if any whippet of mine was straight lined by any rabbit i wouldn't give them kennel space mate. Quote Link to post

Fat-Ferret 857
People seem to think whippets are frail shivery little dogs who can only catch a few rabbits, they've never seen a whippet working! My mate has a whippet and a smaller whippet cross, two outstanding dogs, and have taken double figure bags on the hardest nighs each on their own. Quote Link to post
old real tree 92
i have been using my whippet day and night and never picked up an injury, she has never pulled back because of the weather, she shivvers a bit in the real bad weather but when she starts running she is ok.. hope this advice is helpful... sh 08 17
I shiver and yapp in bad weather the dog is as quiet as a mouse Quote Link to post
Edd_Wiltshire 9
I have an 18 month old Whippet and he is game as anything. As for shivering, quivering little dogs it makes me laugh. I think this stereotype comes from posh old ladies who keep a whippet indoors all day long, then when she goes out the thing shivers! Top dogs, got another on the way. Still on the look out for the right lurcher as well! Quote Link to post
huntingalltheway 2
If all you want is a couple of bunnys then why not But thats all you will probably get a COUPLE of bunnys on the lamp you never hear of a whippet catching big bags do you? P.S I am in no way slating whippets they are good little ferreting dogs but I just cannot see a whippet catching big bags on the lamp i would have to disagree with that i know a whippet thats caught 31 rabbits on the lamp early into his career its owned by the bloke on here who goes by sh 08. That was when it was my mates dog but ive heard it got even better. Im a true believer a dog is what you make it get it fit enough then it'l do the job. I belive sh 08 takes his for a 4 mile bike ride during the day before he even considers lamping at night. Cracking dog Quote Link to post
sh 08 17
Thanks mate its true he's a fit little thing with plenty of guts, stamina and speed Quote Link to post
sh 08 17
I need to say that when he had the 31 my mate had him not me, He is getting better and better catching most things now some things with help but all the same he's got the guts to get stuck in. If nothing else he's getting me fit, Its quite dishartening some days after the bike ride he looks up and as if to say " is that it" Quote Link to post
