Lead Line Purse Nets

I'm sure this may have been asked before but I've been unable to find a previous thread, does anyone have experience of using the lead line purse nets. I've ordered some from Bridport Nets to try out towards the end of the season. Any reports on their merits, or not as the cast may be.

If they are purse nets, cant see the point, I am always looking to make my pack lighter.

Why would you need lead in purse nets, if you lay normal purse nets proper, you should catch.

I do a lot of hedge hunting and have good quality nets of varying sizes. I use quickset longnets with stop nets. I set the nets as best as I am able but still have slips and escapes, usually by hole hoppers. The main problem being debris in the bottom of the hedges. I had seen them used in some DVD/you tube clip a while ago, and decided to try them. 'All the gear, no idea.' Just hoped that somebody on here could give me some information about them.

The problem i would worry about is if you dont get there quickly enough the rabbits away back down the burrow and unlike a purse net you have no drawstrings to try to get the netted rabbit out a burrow, There no a new idea and the fact there no loads in use tells me a tale

i had never heard of them, till now, I know you can put lead lines on a longnet, but that's another thing i never fancied.

As mostly working solo, weight is a no no for me, so would not fancy lead lines.

They've arrived. They do have a drawstring, this is the leaded line. I have rigged some pegs with a foot of cord that I can attach and use as a conventional purse net. I have a better idea now I have them, but still not used them. They are a bit weighty and any long distance mooching walks will see them left in the back of the Landrover. Still interested to hear from anyone who has used them.

???? I`ve never heard of these. I presumed he was on about drawcord with lead in it. Lead line is only really useful on the bottom of ditch nets to take the contour of the ditch better, and hold better. Or if you were doing extremely windy bowling greens with 4z nets. I wouldnt go getting too many though, your bag would be heavy as feck. I couldnt find them on there when I looked earlier? Got me confused now, when you say they do have a drawcord, but you have bit of cord to use as a normal purse net. Any pics?

Never heard of them or see any point or advantage in leaded purse net cords ?. leaded bottom line on long nets thats a different thing all together

There in the last Warrener dvd and hes punting them ( theres a surprise Eh ) there just normal nets but with a weighted drawcord the way there using them they have no pegs the rabbit bolts get caught up in the net and thats it , Fine unless like in the dvd the rabbit rolls back down the hole taking the net with it , in this case the rabbit was wrapped up in two nets and still got back down a burrow so out come the spade .

The one,,,, we had that that the other week,,, on a net vin set,,,lol,,, peg pulled out, and the rabbit was out of reach back down the hole,, and it all happened real quik,, so I stuck the spade straight in , just 1 foot down grabbed the net but it was empty.

 

Why re- invent the wheel,,,how long does it take to put a peg in the ground,,lol.

 

The one,,, did that Warrener have his traveler mates on it again,,firing off catapults at bolting rabbits,, whilst terriers , whippets , and a host of other mutts run around

It may have been a Warrener video that I saw them on. Now I have them I realise that I would be able to spread the net out over the debris, thorns and crap at the hedge bottom. The net would stay spread out without the need to be fiddling hooking the outside of the net on small twigs where you have to 'pin out' the whole thing. They're clearly not widely used by the response I'm getting.
