tegater 789
Maybe we need to curb the 'big' bags being taken, else they could end up on an endangered list. Numbers seem to be down everywhere and although new to hunting myself this seems to be a nation wide issue. Don't get me wrong it must be good to get double figures every time you go out, but, surely they need time to recover? be it from us over hunting them or natural causes. Bri The trouble is on some permissions they want everything killing, usually the equine places, forestry and the golf course, but these for me are the permissions you can get recommended from. The farms up our way are the ones were you get the sport as they aren't right bothered about a few rabbits. Quote Link to post

Ideation 8,216
Theres rabbits out there you just need to put in the time and miles There are still rabbits but i would definatly say that the nation wide population is a lot lower than in previous years. Quote Link to post
BIGLURKS 874
Stating one fact if u want a higher population of rabbits take out the things that are living of the rabbits ie foxes stoats then they will breed the exact same just more survive regularly Quote Link to post
Halfinch 51
Theres rabbits out there you just need to put in the time and miles I know there are, you only have to look at Australia, but i don't have the time to travel those miles to catch some rabbits. Quote Link to post
Guest long-tail
Just as the Tittle says..... They certainly arn't around Hertfordshire The numbers have been decreasing over the last 2-3yrs. I have a couple of permissions that no one else hunts on and they used to be overrun with rabbits, I've never hit them that hard because it's more for the sport and ferret food than any commercial need to reduce the numbers. This year there are hardly any rabbits left and it's the same on all my permissions, Very Very low numbers. Where in the UK are you and what are the numbers like? im in herts as well mate, few places i used go got hammered to the point you was lucky to get a run mainly by the shooting lads im afraid to say but even though i tend to get around a bit numbers are still very low, just got to lay off and hope for the best next season cheers Quote Link to post

Like i said, i've laid off now, and hopefully they'll come back strong next year. Quote Link to post

One set for example, last year produced 27 catches of 30 bolted when it was done. This year, 2 catches from 2, same set. Quote Link to post
