Hudson 5
I have seen a rifle in the fabled left hand stock (which is what i am) and even in Walnut !! But it has a Mountmaster 3-9x50ao Scope already on it..... looking at these they sell for about £50, are they any good ? If all i was using the gun for was shooting paper targets at the best distance i can or just plinking, are there better scopes out there ? I may be able to get a discount if i take the rifle without the scope. Ta Quote Link to post
pianoman 3,587
I have a MkIII TX200HC .177 and that Mountmaster is not on a par with what these carbines can deliver in accuracy. A fifty quid scope on a Five hundred quid rifle? Come on. Do yourself a favour and your rifle, and spend good money on a quality scope like a Bushnell, Simmons or Hawke Panorama. You won't regret it! 1 Quote Link to post
Its_grim_up_norf 577
i was in pretty much the exact same boat mate. except i had an even worse mountmaster. So after one or two outings with the rifle, being unimpressed as to the 'hype' surrounding the TX, the final straw was when i got it absolutely bang on, and a car journey knocked the scope off again. cheap rubbish. I went and bought http://www.deben.com/hawke-sport-hd-ir-riflescopes/hawke-sport-hd-ir-4-12x50-ao.html one of them. Cant recommend it enough, the rifle became much easier to shoot, once it was on there wasnt a speed bump going to knock it off, and the distance i could take shots from became greater. Still in need of plenty of practise before i become a crack shot, except my rifle is now as good as the shooter. not the other way round. Hope this helps. Quote Link to post
AR177 588
I agree with Pianoman You should never scrimp on the optics, accuracy is the main part of air gun shooting and you will find it much harder with poor optics ATB Adam 1 Quote Link to post
zini 1,939
What are popular at the moment with good reviews off people on here are: MTC range - Mamba, Viper etc. Hawke range - Sidewinder 30 SF, Sidewinder Tac 30 SF and the Panorama EV. If you like a standard 30 / 30 ret then the Simmons Pro Air and White Tail Classic are very sweet. Edited February 9, 2013 by zini Quote Link to post
Hudson 5
Cheers for that, i thought so, the gun dealer will not separate them so i will have to buy both of them, its up for £375 but i know i will be buying a scope i simply do no not want, they did say i could sell it on Ebay but for how much ? Also what mounts would you guys get for a decent scope like the ones mentioned ? Quote Link to post
