spade 224
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-21380963 Says the dog is in secure accommodation while they have an enquiry. Any other dog would be pts by now.
rob190364 2,594
surely the rozzer should be prosecuted for this????? can you imagine if that was a normal person, dog would be shot, person would be in court...and if it was a bull breed it'd be all over the front page of the sun tomorrow. Bit weird for a police dog to just randomly bite people though isn't it? aren't they supposed to be proper disciplined?
woz 260
There's something gone wrong with the dog hear....there trained to bite on command not run about taking nips at people.....my gsd bitch escaped last summer (shes a full on biting dog) the neighbors kids bought het back cuz she'd been playing with a football with her and they wanted to go for there t.....this is another nail in the coffin for sport dogs and ppd's.....bout time the police upped there game extended the training coarse past 16 weeks and got some decent blood in there stock instead of paying £1900 for something that shows some aggresion before doing the coarse.... HIGHAM 47
A typical example of 1 rule for them and 1 rule for us , i very much doubt anything will come of this but you can bet ur balls that if it was one of our dogs it would be pts
Outlaw Pete 2,224
A typical example of 1 rule for them and 1 rule for us It will, very likely, pan out that way. Dog got out. It can and does happen. Dog then seems to have randomly decided to attack someone though ....? Without bothering to read up on all the amendments to the " Dangerous Dogs " bollocks; Doesn't that sound like a solid, cast iron example of 'A Dog Dangerously Out of Control in Public' ? Blame the Breed, Deed, Little Green Men Who Live At The Bottom Of The Garden; The dog got out and bit a random passer by. End Of. How many Bull or Mastiff type owners would get the chance to say; " Oops! Awfully sorry about that. It won't happen again. " I await the media and government outcry now. That All Police owned " GSD Type " dogs should be castrated, insured for £1,000,000, tattooed, muzzled and kept on a lead in public. But, I'm not holding my breath
The one 8,479
Aye if your dog got out and bit somebody it would be pts and you would be fined how is any other dog differnt and got out secure kennels , something doesn't add up
secretagentmole 1,701
It will have to wear a muzzle when out now!
gnipper 6,475
If that dog were to have come and bit you or others around you and you had killed/disabled it would it have been classes as self defense or would they have thrown the book at you because its a police dog? The Duncan 802
To be fair, that dog is trained to chase and use its teeth on people. I've known some police dog handlers who say that when their dogs are chasing, the best thing for anyone to do (including other rozzers) is stand still rather than run (as instinct might dictate). The handler needs a good professional kicking though !
vixen 528
There seems to be more and more police dogs biting innocent bystanders and the wrong people these days , got to be down to training and handling imo

The handler needs a good professional kicking though ! dont know how bad the bites were, but know a bloke bite bit by a cop dog big gsd, and was very bad bite on the arm , fair few stiches+ badly bruised, couldnt use his hand+ arm for a week, when they really want to bite they really do and do lot of damage.!! maybe the dogs just snapped if it was approched by people. But it as been said if it was anybody else dog it would be in the ground now, should be the same for the cop dog
The Duncan 802
lets face it, a police dog is not a hunter, a terrier or a lapdog. It's bred and trained to grab people which can end in injuries. You can't really judge the dog....by all means criticize the handler for letting the dog loose! My own hunting dogs 'play' their hunting roles with each other and other members of my dog pack, which means chasing and grabbing/mouthing (my lurcher even plays/practises on my giant Ridgeback) so play often mimics work.
RubyTex 1,957
When some little scroat stole a digger round here and made off over the back fence one of our neighbours helping out afterwards (it crashed through a lasses living room wall!) was bitten quite badly by a police dog...the handler just went "sorry mate" and walked off
gnasher16 30,121
.the handler just went "sorry mate" and walked off Ive been bitten twice by police dogs outside football grounds, first time i got a " sorry about that "......second time i got " thats what you get for being hooligans " !!!..........ok they was only little nips and it was in rowdy environments, and maybe twice in 30 odd years cant be moaned at.....but these are TRAINED dogs with TRAINED dog handlers !.............In situations like these an even bigger example should be made of dog/handler than is made of everyday joe public in my opinion. Thats outrageous, you should have reported the it I know I would, Police dog or not we can't have dogs just biting people and owners be they Police or civvies thinking its not a problem.
