Phillip Nicholas 0
Hi all, I have just joined a shooting club currently using my hw77 but intend to make fac application. I had an. Fac back in the nineties with a theoben rapid 7 fac on it. I handed the fac back after a few years to follow other interests. I am going to apply through the club and continue using range with new rifle. I will however also like to go hunting on permissions I hope to get. I have a question concerning choice of gun, after much research I am looking at the Anschutz 1417 with 14 inch barrel, anybody got any experience of this gun?, I would be gratefull for any feedback, thanks. Danny Fireblade 66
I've got one, very nice gun except the mag release could be a bit longer for comfort in my opinion. Quote Link to post
Magwitch 687
shot 1000s of rabbits with mine, very nice little rifle.......................... Quote Link to post
zx10mike 137
very well built rifle that will last a lifetime.sadly being a starter rifle many don't get cleaned regularly and the bore could be in poor condition if you buy second hand .for this reason i would allways buy new.most threads on to clean or not most people only clean when accuracy goes so the rifle could have been stored for weeks with nasty acidic stuff up the tube. stillair1 16
A slick rifle with arguably the best trigger out there. I found the sporter stock too small for me and opted for an aftermarket stock for better fit. There is a smidge of barrel flip when firing, but a bipod up front supresses it. An idea rifle for out of the cab, stalking or nv use. Quote Link to post
riflehunter583 58
hi P. welcome to the site, its a great site. i have not shot one but have seen one in the gun shop. they seem well made and very compact. a little to short for me unless i had a moderator on the end to balance it out when firing. if you look at any other's i could also highly recommend a browning 52 if you ever see one second hand. also the cz 's are a good choice with aftermarket trigger's available. good luck with your application. Hi zx10mike How long have you been shooting you should never clean the barrel of a 22rimfire sometimes it can take a lot of rounds to get it accurate again. Are you ex army by any chance.I have a 22 rf anschutz i have had it about 10 yrs put a few rounds through it and the barrel has never been cleaned. The rimfires at our club get the actions cleaned but not the bores and some of those rifles have had hundreds of thousands of rounds through them. You don't get nasty acidic stuff from rimfire ammo.Geordie Edited February 17, 2013 by geordieh Quote Link to post
riflehunter583 58
to me barrel cleaning is another topic that is open to debate and one of personel prefferance. my preference is to pull old bits of towel through the barrel with washing line from wilko (99p)!! every 50-100 shots as the barrel on my 22lr seem to get bits of muck up it after a few shots. after the pull through the groups are as normal no releading needed. the reason why i do this as i like to look down the barrel and see it nice and shiny but also becuase the groups i'm getting are good, especially today when i got my personel best using eley subs and cci velecitors at 50 and 120 yards. some of the better groups i got no one would belive me. my point is if the pull through was bad then this would show in my groups. however i don't use cleaning fluids.
