When I fed dry complete food i had to add water to my dogs dish full simply because he bolted the food that quick he threw it back up in seconds , just cold water on the food was all i did, not had any problems when I fed it that way

I have never fed a complete to a dog, so can comment on that. I would suspect that adding boiling water is not the ideal thing to do, if it was I am sure the manufacturers would recommend it. Boiling food does have some effect on vitamin loss but its not a catastrophic amount as you may think. Cooking can reduce certain vitamin content more than others because some vitamins are sensitive to heat, water and air. Water-soluble vitamins are most vulnerable to heat, particularly vitamin C and the B vitamins

However I have from time to time used a hard wholemeal baked biscuit such as laughing dog not any of this extruded stuff. I always found it best to soak this in advance with cold water or in with minced meat.

thanks for your input everyone

the reason i use boiling water is because i feed half mince to biscuit and the mince is frozen so it helps to speed along the thaw out process. i suppose i'll soak the biscuit separate this time of year just to be on the safe side and then pour on some warm water just before i feed.

i'm happy with the condition of my dogs just wanted to be sure that they are getting the best out of there food. i suppose i'm a bit of a perfectionist and there's always room for improvement.

thanks again for taking some time to help
