buster gonads 862
You could well be right there Darcy, i cant remember the exact time of year as we used to fish for Barbel during the trout season before the coarse season started but also had the odd trip up there during the summer too, i presume they spend there life at sea and only enter fresh water to breed then die, i,v never seen anything like it in any other river, funny looking things too, atb, buster. 1 Quote Link to post
J Darcy 5,871
yes, Buster, i have done the very same myself. The best place was the rapids below the road bridge. Thousands of them! They're not around for long in those numbers. I bet the otters there bloody feast on them!! Quote Link to post
Irish Lurcher 1,013
On hard fished waters I find that kippers work a treat, but Roach will catch all day long. 1 Quote Link to post
verminator1811 3
Depends on the water, wether its been hammered or not. On pressured waters I find more exotic baits like blueys, lamprey, smelt, have the edge. On one water in particular good old Mackay out fishes just about every bait going. I do a lot of sea, coarse and game fishing so if been known to use dead baits such as Pollock, whiting, horse mackerel, trout, grayling, even flounders ha! You name it if used it as pike baits and just about everything works especially 1lb half fish jacks for the big mammas! I seem to remember I got nowt on the flatty, tough as old boots he he :-) 1 Quote Link to post
