Also got a nice swede Was going to do some digging but the ground is like iron at the moment. Now I have given up on my tomatoes and stopped watering them I seem to be getting a few nice ones too they must like a bit of neglect and as for runner bean well I could feed half the country given up picking them now

Do you need a lot of room to grow them? I was dreading them to be honest after reading about there poor germination but I didn't have any issues it was beetroot and carrots I struggled with. I made a small hole every approx slightly less than a foot and threw 3 or 4 seeds in and if they all took just broke off the smaller ones and left the best one. They have quite big tops so need a bit of room so it seems here are some of them

terryd 8,384
Cheers folks after the initial onslaught when you take these plots on and there neck deep in weeds they don't take a massive amount of work just a matter of little and often so it seems. Not a great deal to do at the moment the odd few weeds and the ground is full of winter veg. Need to get the broad beans going as they did well over wintering last year
forest of dean redneck 11,535
Missus has got an allotment in town,so tomorrow got to go in sign forms and find out what plot it is. Apperantly it's one they have repossessed due to non cultivation.

Great stuff least you have the winter to get it ready though if it was me I would soon turn over a few feet and nip the garden centre for half dozen plant. Oh and sow a few broad beans
