Few pics of some bits.  

Had an hour on the plots today dug first spuds ( not the best but sure they be tasty, pulled a few beets to culled a cross bread pigeon from my loft , while we was there I swapped some eggs for a turn

Reckon I get about 1 in 10 that send up two shoots mate.

Thank you , I didn’t realise it happens .. Do you just leave them both or cut the smallest back

Yeah just leave them mate.

Other surprising thing you can do and a lot of people don't realise you can do is grow runners from last years tubers. You might have to dig them up and store in compost or sand and protect from the frost. But down here in Devon I have just mulched them with straw and they come up next year.

Looks pristine that does … not a mark on it … never tried to grow onions .

Not to late if you can find some Onion sets.

But I grow the big one from seed that I put in late December or very early January.

Nope never knew that , but then never grown runners before . I haven’t eaten one since 1995 and haven’t missed them … you put the idea in my head lol

You cant beat fresh Runner beans mate. You could make some Runner chutney.

First runners are in .I’ll bank the soil up and slip the pot “collars” off when they’ve grown a bit taller .. Went to trim the hedge ( hate doing it) and went a bit ott , it was over 6ft high …. but I won’t have to cut it for a while , just going to take a while to dry and burn the off cuts .. gooseberries are looking really good this year so far …

I'd put the runners straight in but get some slug pellets down, they will hammer them if given a chance.

They are in sort of arry , the pots have no bottoms , didn’t think you could buy slug pellets anymore ?
