ratbuster 807
Them toms look very nice as do the peppers I hope mine look as good Just added a lot of chicken dung, water, lime and sunshine, nature did the rest .... Took more than 5 years to get a crop from the figs, sometimes one has to be patient

terryd 8,384
Nice colours today starting to get set for the winter now. Tipped some manure today but to wet for much else. Had some fun this week as a load of sheds got broke into not much taken as far as I know. Probably because you can't get vehicle in easily The locks were bust off mine and door open but every thing was there. Very nice little mantis tiller there. Fetch a 100 quid buy it now no probs and easy to carry the lazy bastewards lol couldn't be arsed to carry it. Either that or tripping over the gallon can of pissh in front of the door then near getting decapitated with a rusty mower followed by a facefull of mummified rat on the shelf I have never got around to moving. They thought sod this better find a cleaner shed

MR TEA POT 1,287
Why do you cover soil over through winter? Daft question garden newbie?
terryd 8,384
Why do you cover soil over through winter? Daft question garden newbie In my case it just so I can forget about that patch and come spring when I uncover it will be weed free. That particular plot I still trying to get on top of weed wise and the plots either side are neck deep in weeds so its hard to keep it clean. My other plot I have had a year longer so its easier to maintain. Also come spring the soil under there will be warmer so there is that advantage too. Down side the mice love it lol
terryd 8,384
Oh and I have a strawberry patch that I discovered by accident if I cover up over the winter all the weeds die and when I uncover the strawberry plants have survived and get a nice clean start. you can just make out the plants after uncovering then they take off for the spring Edited September 19, 2015 by terryd
