Produces a good crop and keeps well with nice taste. A tomato I've been growing for two year now Called "Sakura" is very good. Will be sowing tomato seed in next week or the week after. I just cant get good results, so I use Vitax peat mixed with bit of grit. Cheers Arry

terryd 8,586 Posted Thursday at 13:48 Report Share Posted Thursday at 13:48 Deffo time to sow some onions and leeks I used to just throw handful seed in a pot. Ideally keep them in there till first earlies were out and use that ground. Miss me allotment but time consuming. Not some you can do half hearted needs constantly tending for success. Enjoyable though

Enjoyable though An old boy Plumber (Charlie Perring) brought some massive Onions into work to show us years ago. He's gone now bless him was a really nice bloke. Told me to put Onion seed in Christmas Day, wrote every thing down on a piece of paper for me about feeding etc. Of coarse bit of paper is lost which is a shame. I now grow big Onions up to 2 and a half pounds and I'm surprised how long they keep. If you want to grow big Onions the variety I use is "Exhibition". Which I used to grow Suttons but for the last two years but germination has been bad. So switched to Premier Seeds and germination is very good just have to wait till harvest to see if they crop as good. Cheers Arry
