A wooden box or cardboard box with lid keep in the dark and dry. Discard any green ones as green potatoes are poisonous and will give you bad guts. Cheers Arry

Aled 474
I agree Arry is leading the way on the garden front. When i was growing up there used to be an informal competition amongst some of the local boys as to who had the best looking garden. These veg patches were a pleasure to see and the produce tasted divine!!

These veg patches were a pleasure to see and the produce tasted divine!! I'm an old chap now my first job apart from a paper round was working in a market garden. I've been gardener all my life so most of the gardening just come naturally if you know what I mean. But believe you me I still get failures my carrots this year are shit all tops and not bottoms. I made a mistake of putting last years peat from the Tomato pots in where I I planed to grow the carrots think there was to much fertiliser feed left in it. Oh well lesson learnt. Aled 474
Strange how things pan out....this is year no 10 for me and my veg patch, in the past i've failed to get good crops with everything except....beetroot and carrots always got good crops from them, until this year. Dad now he had good crops of everything except...beetroot and carrots, guess what his best crops are this year!!! As an aside those old boys i talk about were the last of the National Service generation, and they grew up during food rationing of the WW2 and the following years, so garden produce, ferreted/lurchers/snared rabbits, fishing (there was and still is a v good angling association locally i'm club secretary) plus anything else they shot, was an important source of food. Despite the fags, (they all smoked) the food they ate was top notch, probably healthier than today. Edited August 2 by Aled

Arry 21,442
Well my big onions have fallen so will lift in a day or two. If you want to grow them its Suttons "Exhibition" put the seeds in December / January. I just start them on the window sill. Ive probably had one of my best years for Tomato's. Last nights picking from 7 plants. I don't know if anybody is interested but this is the variety's. The one on the left hand side have been the most prolific one called "Sakura F1" next to them supposed to be "Piccolo" but I got my doubts as I bought the seed on line. The orange ones called "honeycomb F1" supposed to be sweeter than "Sungold" well they are not sweeter but the skins are better and they don't split like Sungold. Ones on the right top are "Tamina" a potato leaf tomato. The big one bottom right is a beefsteak called "Honeymoon" a tasty tomato. If I had to recommend just one it would be "Sakura" I will defiantly be going that again next year. cheers Arry
