Thats a bugger but plenty of time to get more going though. Just got back from the plot and earthed up me spuds up. My mate said we don't need to worry now but I am not taking chances lol.

Never got home till late and missed the weather forecast ..got a few runner bean and berlloto spares in the greenhouse but no more corgette or French beans ..that's the second lot I've lost to the frost ..

Just sow French beans direct in a week or two ,

moving on a bit again today! potted on the squash, pumpkins, courgettes, aubergines and cucamelons today and moved most out into the GH ,potted a couple of courgettes into potato grow bags to get an early crop"we leave these in the GH a few weeks after planting the ones outside into the beds "normally manage to get some about 3 weeks sooner !,hopefully after this moons away ill be able to get the peppers out into the GH propagator before setting them out on to the staging "a trial this season to hopefully get them a bit more light to ripen better" as we normally plant into ring culture type pots in the border

am I right in thinking pepper plants are very disproportionate too there peppers eg small. I have one plant that is starting to flower but its pretty small

yes they can be ! ,i find that the peppers generally set relatively early(were a fair bit behind up here in the scottish borders) but they take a long while to mature and ripen ,thats why im trying the staging idea, though in fairness im usually late getting them started"intending to start them earlier next season as ive rigged up some grow lights and a decent sized heated propagator"

i usually find set starts when the plants are about a foot or so tall

I'm going to just keep mine ticking over this summer, planted 4 short rows of spuds, transplanted some strawberry plants down there as dismantling the parrot cage they were growing in at home.

Got handful of sweetcorn and broad beans sprouting and picked up handful of tomato plants from charity shop yesterday my favourite money maker and some black cherry ones.

Well I decided today next time I sow carrots don't do rows a foot apart in drills but maybe up on ridges or singles rows. Because when the weeds take off in the middle you can't hoe for fear of burying the carrots popping through.

Made some room in the green and took some squash up the plot.
