I went for beach, then coffee and cake with the daft friends and their equally daft dogs that agreed to play beach walks on a sunday, and home via the ice cream van, and now glass of white, with the assurance that I will work harder on the PT in the morning ! Dog smells of seaweed, but was prevented from rolling on the decaying spider crab body, which was an unexpected bonus. He can get chucked in the sheep dip trench in the morning for a wash. whatdog72 287 Posted June 6, 2016 Report Share Posted June 6, 2016 Worked in the poly tunnel most the day trying to catch up, using the capillary matting again but only on tomatoes and cucumbers, peppers and chillies will just sit in normal pots and see how I get on as I don't think they liked been damp all the time Traded a few eggs for a climbing courgette plant which needs to go in, anyone grew one as I didn't thing you got climbing ones and if you have are they worth it. devon flighter 421 Posted June 6, 2016 Report Share Posted June 6, 2016 got the melons planted out in the GH the weekend and had a bit of a tidy after the start ,just the general maintenance now ,got the courgettes ,squash and pumpkins planted out in the beds last friday,gave everything a dose of general fertiliser and the kitchen garden seems to be doing fine with all this recent weather long may it continue ! terryd 8,595 Posted June 7, 2016 Report Share Posted June 7, 2016 (edited) Well great excitement i might get a decent onion this year not in the bag yet but i have two spots that are now looking good now the only difference in the the two spots that are failing is I think I worked on the ground when it was too wet so didn't get a nice crumb only guessing mind. Bit like my spuds my mates went in possible a month after mine yet his tops are 3 times the size of mine and I suspect whats underneath would be the same. Patience and timing things right pays at the end of the day. Mine went in early while the soil wasn't ideal then got whacked by the frosts which knocked them back as well.
