I think my spuds are going well? Got some corn, some peas and beans going too, all new to this so no idea if they're growing well or not lol

Well looks like I will be buying onions this winter. My first bed that over wintered I noticed the tops get shorter so I threw some bird netting over and left them to it. Closer look today and 3/4 are now topless so to speak also my other bed planted this year which included shallots has had it too. Now the tops are gone I guess I may as well pull them and eat what I can I can't see them recovering.

My mate on the other hand who is less than 30 yards away has a lush bed of onions with not a blemish on them. I am putting it down to my plot being neglected for years and pests have built up so I can put a positive spin on it

Which makes no sense because if it hasn't had veg on it for few years why would pests build up

people on our plot terry have said rabbits have eaten the foilage on onions i have never had it happen. My leek bed only young plants has been destroyed by rabbits so start again with them and cover up. Dont discount slug damage go with a torch at night and check your onions quite possibly could be the culprits.

Have to agree that looks like slug damage to me, especially after the mild winter there are just so many about.

Lots of ups and downs on the plot but the ups out weigh the downs. Nice strawberries and cream today was hoping to get some jam done but I can't see them making it that far :)
