Well my strawberries did well, had enough for four people for a stawberries and cream dessert once a week, onion yield pretty poor, had about 4 buckets full of spuds, chive did well, rhubarb shot up then died back?! well that's me done for the year, gave the garden a little dig over and chucked some manure in....done

The wife wants toms next year if I got her a display like that jack she would be well happy. I have had 2 collies this year both with heads the size of an egg but what they lacked in size they made up for in taste both fork fulls

How do you get your toms to ripen ffs ??? my plants are hanging with green fuckers lol lol, only so much green tom chutney a man can face lol.

boots i'v put bananas in the greenhouse with the toms and it speeds them up ( something to do with the gas they let off when rotting?), also cut back some spare leaves with no trusses on and let them see some sun

With regards to your caulis boys were the leaves tinted with a reddy rust colour. If so it sounds like cabbage rootfly. I have tried ever 'herbal remody' that is available, collars, planting them in holes and then scraping the sides of the stalk as it grows an back filling the hole to encourage new roots to form. None of it works for me. When I had the allotment I would give them one dusting of Bromphis and no problems.

Now the bloody eec has put a stop to all chemical pest control for the gardener.

took some spuds, toms and cumber to the lady over the road and the ole dear was chuffed :D
