Whippet X Collie X Greyhound

Recommended Posts

They make about 23/24 inch good rabbiting dogs day and night also would take long ears pre-ban lack size for pulling anything bigger on a regular basis! Not saying they won't but for anything else but rabbits pre-ban would be looking more at 5/8 3/8 or 3/4 cross collie greyhound

some people clearly dont know what they are talking about, had a bitch 23" colliewhippet x greyhound, back in late 60s early 70s hunt off the road and carry back up into the VAN, clever, speed and stamina, and jump for fun,, we ran Hares back then, and she could do her job and very well, it was an education

just to watch that bitch work, one day it was Harvest time, a stubble field, nr Penrith, we were doing the M6 motorway, the bitch, had been lying, in the back of the van so I wanted to give her a run, stop the van, tell her to get over hunts the field like a springer spaniel, up jumps a Hare, a few bends and she nails it, carrying back up to the van, she comes up to the fence pig wire, with 2 strands off barb wire, she noses through the Hare, jumps the fence then pulls the Hare through,

then carrys the Hare up to the van, just then the game keeper, came along, it cost me 10 bob in old money, and the twat took the Hare as well, Tinker was the bitches name, and to this day, I have never had a better bitch, had simmilar, but she had the edge to her work, she done that much running, she become muscle bound in her back legs, and she was an excellent watch dog, she would take the hand off a stranger,, its not the size its the heart in the dog, and she had plenty, and so biddable, you could direct her in the field, to get over to the right or the left, she was class,,, rabbits, hares, and pheasant, she kept my pantry well stocked, (((( I never ran her on deer,, I had larger dogs for that job,

this is Coco...great little daytime dog for the rabbits. Has taken other gear as well, and i believe would've taken them in better numbers if i put the stuff in frontt of her. She's 7 now and will be sadly missed when gone. Only 22" TTS, so has always struggled to come to terms with longs ears.

But for marking, hunting up etc etc...then brilliant!!!
