fieldsportsman 107
when buying finches, how do you know they are not wild ones which have been caught, as this obviously illegal
gnipper 6,546
They should be correctly rung with an ioa or bbc ring which is not too loose on the leg. Look around for a reputable supplier. If the birds are a mutation variety then that's even better as they are pretty much guaranteed captive bred.
fireman 11,003
And check the ring is perfectly round and not miss shaped in any way,if it is it may well have been stretched so walk away and don't buy.
fieldsportsman 107
has anyone bought one without a ring
fireman 11,003
The law says it's illigal to sell or show a native without a ring but it's not set in stone you have to ring your birds but proving there captive bred will be a hard thing to do unless you have the rung parents so if the sh*t hits the fan dna proof will get you out of it,you can give away unrung birds but not sell them.
