Price Of Pups??

Recommended Posts

Personally I think some people have a brass neck to walk into a strangers house and Expect to pay a pittance for a working dog, Ive always thought that if people have to pay a little then they respect it a little more rather than just getting something cause its cheap...

I would be more than willing to pay £500 quid or even more for a well bred dog of the type I wanted...But similarly I wouldnt hold great shakes in being given one by a friend...A good price I about £250, Not too much but enough to cover the rearing and a little extra pocket money for the vendor, Ive never bought into this "real dogmen dont charge" Mentality

yes + no to the above, the pups will be brought up by the dam for 4 weeks, then the owner takes over. So with worms tabs + food only for 3-4 weeks, as most go to new homes at 7-8 weeks, so they aint got them that long to put a hole in there(owner) pocket . But as price for a (x bred dog =mongrel) and thats what lurchers are , i think £ 150 is more than enough  most ive paid for any lurcher is £ 120 , my last 2 dogs come less than that for the 2 . !!

if you want a certain pup you'll pay the cash imo but i do think anything over £200 has to be out of 2 special dogs at the very top of their game ,

Hi Old school, I've bred pups in the past but wouldn't like to now unless I really wanted one from my bitch. The most I charged then (early eighties to nineties) was 25 or 30 quid but if I was buying

I've paid from £20 to £200 but might pay more for something from special breeding. I know a lot of people think pups should be gifted but I've bred one or two litters in the past and I firmly believe

to my mates the pups are for free but to strangers theyre only 50 quid and thats only cos it keeps peddlers away im against all peddlers but by saying pups are worth 200 a pup it keeps the demand for peddlers supplying cheper dogs . i only breed for my own use and any surplus gets sold cheap and it helps young lads get a good bred pup to run on at an affordable price

Can't agree with you about all of that my brother,

Certainly I wouldn't go to a strangers house and expect a gift and I would pay as much as something was worth to me if it was what I wanted , as you know i forked out some dollar for my lab pup a while ago

BUT,

if I had bred the litter my main concern would be that they were going to right lads the majority of whom would be putting some proper graft into them to see what they were made of.........in this case, I am afraid that money just would not come into it, if they were all in the right places with the right people then I wouldn't want a bean.

I would rather put a bullet in a pup than sell it to some bellend, f**k the money.

Agreed it don't make you a "real dog man" ( whatever that is) but if you have bred a litter then in my eyes it does make you the right sort.

People asking big money for a so called well bred pup always raise my suspicions a bit, you know better than most on here that good stuff is hard to come by and shouldn't really have to be hawked about and lots of blokes are choosy about where their blood go,s
