bird 9,939
well when you do run it on old charlie, make sure the proven dog gets+ kill the it 1st, before the young dog takes hold. Seen it happen few times they slipped a green dog with proven dog, and the green dog locks on 1st, and get mouth full of teeth, could put a young dog right off this kind of work. Quote Link to post

This whole thread is all about distent memories as its illegal to hunt anything but rats and rabbits with a dog...... Ok picture this......large experienced dumb bull x...steams in grabs it round the ass..... Green dog released and gets the sharp end...green dog gets bit...now you've got angry thing biting for its life and 80lbs of bull x pulling aswell...green dog says feck that....... 1 Quote Link to post
matt32 44
Ideally you want to start your dog on cubs and then move on as the season progresses.Foxes can put some painful bites in on a dog if the dog doesnt learn to get it round the neck asap starting gently and building the dogs confidence before tackling adults is the way i would have done it pre ban.
