Hunter99 2 Posted January 31, 2013 Report Share Posted January 31, 2013 i am new to the hunting life im 20 years old would like any ideas of a type of lurcher i can use for lamping and ferreting i have been ferreting since i was 14 so 6 years and fishing every summer.. i would like a nice little lurcher about 22 -24 not to big and not small to come alongside me and ferret and fit enough to go lamping the next night will be worked and looked after well any pictures to will be good Quote Link to post

beast 1,884 Posted February 1, 2013 Report Share Posted February 1, 2013 most any dog will work on the lamp. and the majority of dogs will learn ferretting to some degree, although those with loads of sighthound can sometimes lack the patience to become first class. a first cross collie grey would be ideal, but they can be a bit intense if you havent been around running dogs before so i would suggest you look for something a bit more diluted, say collie grey x beddy grey for example. ciderbob 121 Posted February 1, 2013 Report Share Posted February 1, 2013 the only thing i can say is if all youve done is ferreting is ... when you get into lurchers is a whole new world is going to open to you so... a lurcher is going to be working with you for about 10 yrs so .. dont think about what you need now . also think what your going to be running 5 yrs from now good luck and take the advice from better people than me .. atb bob 1 Quote Link to post
