leegreen 2,181
Didn't read it all because I know what they do. I have owned various working dogs for over 30 years and during that time have had arguments with more than a few vets, two of which have lead to court proceedings. Needless to say they were told "fcuk you, see you in court" and they never did. If you don't know your vet personally, get a second opinion, a lot of them are after shafting you. Quote Link to post
keepitcovert 842
First thing a lot of vets do is ask if your insured, then a lot of them will carry out needless treatment just to line their pockets. My dog had a swollen and hard teat after her season vet diagnosed mammary tumours which he could treat at a cost of £500, took a second opinion and was told it was post season swelling a course of tablets at £35 and hey presto cured. littlefish 586
In all dealings with vets regarding my dogs welfare...........the bottom line is, for me..............is it really necessary and is it in my dogs best interests? Often times a bit of common sense and 'wait and see' does the trick. It is like lot of parents run to doctors unnecessarily every time their child sneezes or farts.......because that is free. Having said that, obvious serious injuries or illnesses justify a visit to the vet. I don't insure my dogs......perhaps that helps focus the mind on what is 'necessary'? Quote Link to post
