budharley 945
anyone on the forum had pnuemonia my youngest (3) who has down syndrome has had it twice now he's just starting to get over his latest fight against it ,his body isnt producing the pneumococcal antibodies that it needs even after vaccine leaving him open to infections including meningitas .He got it first when he was coming up to 2 years old we was in hospital for over a month some of that he was basicly fighting for his life it was probably the worst 2 months of lives. The hospital and perticular the nurses where superb they looked after him and helped and catered for his every need they allowed both of us to stay with him and gave us a room (i think they all fell in love with him haha) , we had to hold an oxygen mask over his face 24/7 he couldnt keep one on he has low set ears and no bridge of nose it kept falling off lol me and his mum did 2 hour turns day and night holding it on for him ,hes a little fighter and he wont go down without a fight i can tell you that, heres hoping next year brings us a bit more luck and he keeps on fighting in hospital blowing kisses again lol

LaraCroft 863
It's a nasty infection - glad he seems to be getting over it, and fingers crossed he doesn't get it again. Love the pic of him blowing bubbles - no wonder the nurses like him

Lab 10,979
Yes my Mum had it about 4 years ago. It was double pneumonia and she was in hospital for weeks. She had 4 valves in her to drain fluid, something the surgeons were trying to make clear to me that she was on deaths door and I really should be prepared for the worst. Even had to sign something to say they could switch of the machine if they felt she wouldn't get any better. But she pulled through, one of her lungs is pretty much useless. Then she got TB twice. She used to be a very keen dog walker, known in the village for walking her dogs for miles at mental times of the day and now she struggles to walk 100 yards without being out of breath. But the powers at be reckon she is fit too work and she has had to go back to work and fight tooth and nail for any benefits while we all see these f*****g smack heads and pub dwellers getting the hand outs!!! Don't get me started on that!!!!! Anyway hope your wee one powers on and makes a full recovery....atb.
