How To Wash A Ferret

Recommended Posts

mine don't seem to mind a bath, i use a small plastic washing bowl, tepid water and one of those ferret shampoos you can buy. The only time i've done it is on the odd out breakout of fleas and once when they got ticks, i find its generally easier to find things like this when they are wet and you can quickly deal with it. If the're just muddy i let them sort themselves out.

How do you wash a ferret ? Use hot water and shampoo orvwhat ? And do they like being washed ?

Why do you need to wash it?

not so much why, buy why not

ferrets love water

my daughter used to take ours in the shower with her,

its bonkers watching them play under the spray, not too often as it will wash off the oil's in the fur

Yes mine play in water particularly in hot weather when they have a tub with a couple of rocks in full of water, but I have never felt the need to wash them, and their coats are lovely and shiny especially at this time of year. I wasn't being funny and I have seen people do it who keep them in the house but then again I have seen kids who dress them up as well.

Answer to the OP's question though,

Ferrets rarely need "washing", I think Bathing might be a better word, I just keep getting this picture in my mind of a couple of ferrets spinning around in a washing machine.

They are similar to cats, they will groom themselves, just make sure you keep their cages clean.

Drop the fecker in a bucket of warm water (obviously make sure it is able to get out) stand back let the wee fecker climb out and shake off put back in hutch with pleanty of straw or shavings and let it dry itself off by rolling about no more than that is necessary
