PLEDGEY 496
You will need a bit more than that. As you will need an illuminator and they are usually about £100. An illuminator for Night Vision, is like a torch for human eyes at night. If you are in a field at night with a torch you can see. Turn the torch off and you can't see. It's the same, sort of (ish) with an infrared illuminator. The Night Vision sees when the IR illuminator is on. Turn it off and you can't see. Better the IR the further and clearer you see. If you have a full moon you don't need so much, or no, IR. But in the pitch black you need lots. This is just a ruff desciption of IR illumination before people start getting too picky. jam1e 12
Ghillies, For most people just getting into NV, Including me) your post would send them running to Nite-Site or other suppliers. I've been getting my head round diy NV for a few months now but parts of your post had me scratching my head. Just to add that it's not due to a crap post from you, as it all seemed good advice, (from what little i know!! ) but if your not "electronically" minded it's like a mechcano set with no pictures and german instructions! The Oslon LED's and thermal base are the dogs danglies from what i understand....? But it would be good to see a "How to" post on the forum. There may well be one for all i know. But i've not seen any indepth decent "How to's" when it comes to the Oslon led's and thermal base. Then what happens next! Please correct me if i'm wrong as i could do with learning more myself...... Also, whats a "Marky Light"? Found the Marky Lighte! Looks the dogs!! Edited February 15, 2013 by jam1e
ghillies 209
what bits do you want to know? it does seem a shed load of tecno when you see umoty seven bits and a few more links and stuff but its basic if you take it one bit at a time. i like my stuff in a box, like batteries and in my pocket to keep the batteries warm in winter and to save weight on the gun. there power supply circuit board on ebay etc, but you need to know how to use one to set the supplies up, failing that go for the 12v in a box or the blue shrink rap zini uses off ebay. hardest part of all of it is getting stuff to fit, or fit in straight. nipping of to nightsite or the other guys..welll for 200 quid maybe a yes, its all there and running including a IR but...have you seen whats inside? board cam led and a battery with a couple switchs and a fuse..in my veiw 400-500 for the extra ready made plastic body housisnt isnt getting my cash no way no how, but i can fit stuff myself, more of a binde than a ready to go....but izza skint and tight as a scottsmans butt hole in winter lol. i havent got a clue what the nite site is like btw...so the choise is actualy down to what you want and what you can afford, or, do you want to DIY one for the act of doing it yourself. cash no object? gen3 or thermal vision.... less cash and a gen1? deffo get a camera set up it wont blow when that lamp goes on lol..and yes if there a torch light about its just a matter of time i can see hundred yards with a not so hot torch housing with the IR in..and yes i havent found anything to say theres better than that olson in that price range. useing the meter? can you turn a screw? and plug the meter in the right way and set it to volts then amps? the rest is posative to posative, negative to negative stuff.(very similar to plugging a battery in the right way). then watch the numbers till its what you want basically. i wont go any further here, i'm still piddlin about slowly.. got acouple cams to mount to see, and a couple torchs to IR yet before a say much more.(need to run the power and stuff to make sure it dont go pooofffff after a few hours lol.). http://www.youtube.com/user/Marky610?feature=watch or search reflo soldering an led or some such like that, that bit is a bit fidly till you've done acouple...after you know it is easy..after though. i;ll shout up when i get a bit more into it and know more, as it is, it works for 5 minutes...but need slimming down and perminanting.
