Working Cocker's ?

Recommended Posts

Rytex. Ask him what quality bitches his dogs have covered and he will give you the bitch owners contact details. Ask around in the gundog world for good stock and the same names will always crop up. Some names never crop up.

Any particular reason you would recommend the cockers from that kennels?

Well Mike is a very dedicated breeder and trainer with a wealth of experience, I bought a pup off him last May and spent 3 hours with him and parents of the pup getting advice on a no pressure discussion. I was recommended to him by someone who bought a pup a few years before and that pup was covered in prizes at a show, someone who doesnt advertise dogs for sale and sells most word of mouth is doing something right. The pedigree goes back to Ftch Maesydderwen Scimitar who was owned by Peter Jones who wrote the book "The working Cocker" The pup I got is one of the most inteligent dogs Ive ever owned and at 10 months old is very close to being fully trained I take him to working gun dog classes and whilst he is not the best at retrieving as he drops it just as go to take it, Im working on that, but as far as obedience goes he is the top of the class. I pheasant shoot every Thursday on a shoot and walking back 2 weeks ago he walked along a hedge line with 7 other gun dogs far more experienced than him, and he worked the fence line back and forth then stood up at the fence then sat looking at the fence, all the other dogs had gone on, it had a ditch the other side, I said to someone there is a bird in there, the guy running the shoot was interested and said go on then lift him over so did and within 2 seconds he put a cock bird up.

so yes I would highly reccommend that kennel.

need i say more?
