This Whippet X Bedlington, Would do everything a terrier would, apart from going to ground, she would work heavy cover, mark, quiet and steady round the burys. But the beauty of this cross, was she

Personally I cant see the benefit of a terrier for the rabbiting game.   The terrier attitude to ploughing into everything and using their mouth, just is not what I would want in a ferreting dog, so

I wudn leave the yard without my terrier, he can hunt tight hedges and when he marks he will just lye down at the burrow and be silent, i usally let him run the warren as thats part of the enjoyment f

They ok to mark the holes i take my patt obviously she is only a small terrier and cant catch the rabbits but she enjoys it,bedlington/whippet on other hand a good all round dog for ferreting but got terrier in them so make sure they broke to ferrets

Terriers make great ferreting dogs as they will hunt the rabbits up in thick cover and put them too ground and mark. They can obviously due to there size get in any cover unlike a lurcher. If you miss a rabbit with the nets when it bolts they will just put it too ground again or a good one will any way. It might not be so keen to bolt second time round but it is efficient.

My only concern in this day and age would be badgers as they seem to be every where now a days

I not got one but they a medium dog i would say and not thick set or bulky...not a bad all round choice just get them broke to the ferrets when they pups, plus they got the speed not as fast as a lurcher on the straight but pretty good in bush

I used to use my terriers before i got the lurcher and once they are broken to ferrets there fine as said the only problem is they might try and go to ground and there no built for coursing any rabbits that slip the nets
