derbylad1 293
As an 18 year old he'll find it very hard to get the work at face value, due to grumpy, ignorant tossers that will doubt him due to his lack of experience. If he really plans to set up his own business in this industry then he needs to realise the amount outgoings before he gets the income. Website(s), advertising, Vehicle and the running costs. Business insurance, stock, and so on and so on....... He needs to find something that makes him different (and better) to his competition. Being cheaper doesn't always mean more work as potential customers may look at this as sign of incompetancy. best of luck to him, its not easy......but i love it 1 Quote Link to post
Matt 160
Jamie mac and your idiot mate earth thrower my son uses my computer and you seem to think you have right to gob off pricks having ago at a young lad hiding behind your keypads keep your shit to yourself thanks to rest of lads Who is gobbing off just giving some advice. I hope i meet you one day you jumped up twat. Come meet me anytime mate don't hide or talk about it dik ed pm me For a moment, I thought I'd stumbled into the running dog section of the forum then. Do we really need all this crap on here? This is, and always has been one of the nicest sections on THL, let's not let it slip into the overall mire that seems to plague other sections. Someone has come on and asked for advice. He's been given some good advice, and from what I can see there is no need for anyone to get on their high horse about it. New pest controllers and/or molecatchers come and go. They always have, and they always will. 2 Quote Link to post

Waz 4,274
Best build up a business steadily. Explore all avenues of pest control & although boring study the pest species as much ad possible, so you can let clients know that you know your stuff, The day that I first ever beat rentokil on getting a tasty contract still makes me smile. Depending on how greedy there salesmen are it can be done and you do well out of it. You can beat a lot of others firms by being ready to respond, people want their emergency dealt with yesterday not day after tomorrow. Best of luck.
